Mike is the son of professional boxer Ron Cisneros, but who he left the family when Mike was still a child.
He went to Skyview High School, where he became a two time Colorado Class 4A state high school wrestling champion, however, after finishing high school he didn’t continue to wrestle, instead he chose a boxing career, and in three years recorded 26 wins and five loses, defeating such prospects as Chad Aquino and Andre Dirrell, and winning the Ringside national Championship in 2001.
Three years later, Mike’s professional career started with the fight against Istafa Jihad, which he won in the first round by KO. He was off to a great start, winning 30 fights in a row, defeating such opponents as Rudy Cruz, Carlos Molina, Michael Clark, Emmanuel Clottey, then in late 2009, Mike was sentenced to five years in prison, reasons are unknown in the media, however, right after he got out of jail, Mike returned to his boxing career, and defeated Lenin Arroyo via TKO, for his 27th straight win.
His 30th match was against Ray Narh, whom he defeated for the vacant WBC Continental Americas light welterweight title. In his next fight he won the vacant IBF Latino light welterweight title, as he defeated Gabriel Martinez, and then defended his title by winning against Breidis Prescott. He had his first loss against Brandon Rios, for the vacant WBO Latino light welterweight title, but then defeated the same opponent for WBO interim light welterweight title. His next three fights were loses, against Ruslan Provodnikov to which he lost the WBO light welterweight title, then Juan Manuel Marquez and Brandon Rios again. Mike bounced back with wins over Saul Corral and Josh Torres for a total of 36 wins and 4 loses to date.
