Jenny Sarah Slate is an American actress, stand-up comedian, and writer.
Born and raised in Milton, Massachusetts, Slate was educated at Milton Academy and studied literature at Columbia University, where she became involved in the improv and comedy scene.
Jenny Slate and her husband Ben Shattuck are a powerful couple in the arts. The I Want You Back actress and the art curator met for the first time in January 2019 at the Sundance Film Festival. Shattuck proposed to Slate while the two were on holiday in France that September.
Shattuck, like his wife, is an artist in his own right. He is currently the principal curator and gallery director of his family’s art gallery in Westport, Massachusetts, Dedee Shattuck Gallery. His mother owns the gallery, and his father, William Shattuck, is also a featured artist.
Shattuck is also a writer and painter in addition to curating art for the gallery.
According to his LinkedIn, he graduated from Cornell University with a degree in English and obtained his MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.
During the COVID-19 epidemic, Slate moved into Shattuck’s home “in a beautiful tiny seaside village” in Massachusetts, as she told Seth Meyers on Late Night with Seth Meyers in December 2020.
Slate and Shattuck announced their engagement in September 2019.
Shattuck proposed while the couple was on holiday in France, and he later revealed the details of his proposal on Instagram.
After postponing their nuptials three times during the pandemic, Slate and Shattuck got married in their home on New Year’s Eve as they rang in 2022.
In February 2021, Shattuck and Slate announced that they had welcomed a baby girl named Ida Lupine Shattuck into their family.
